As part of the prestigious 98th International Open Exhibition of the National Watercolor Society at their galleries in San Pedro, California, 45 works by 25 RSW members have been framed and showcased in the exhibition. The RSW collection accompanies 90 works juried from an open, international submission of work. RSW council member, Derek Robertson, who curated the show said, “This is a great honour for the RSW and an important artistic exchange”.
NWS Director of Exhibitions, Penny Hill says that, “NWS is a leader in the world of watermedia showing the newest and the best of the art, and to set the environment of rich competition so that the art community itself grows and reaches past tradition and habit and is constantly evolving.
We are so honored to have work of such diversity from our colleagues in Scotland.”
NWS Past President Ken Goldman said, “What intrigued me most was the imagination and interpretation in each artist’s piece. In particular, the landscapes have either a misty, magical feeling or a great sense of play when the artists decide to go further in stylizing their subject matter. Visitors who walk into the NWS adjacent gallery will be astounded and impressed by the forty-four beautiful Scottish jewels.
RSW are making plans to curate and display a similar show of work from the NWS at one of our future Annual Exhibitions at the RSA galleries in Edinburgh.
