Sheila Anderson-Hardy RSW

Born on the West coast of Scotland I studied at Glasgow School of Art.

My return to rural Scotland in 2014 proved pivotal to my practice. Inspired by close observation of my surroundings, I focus on woodland edges, field margins and hedgerow, within which  I seek my subjects. I strive to make visible the beauty, richness and complexity of the often overlooked but essential elements which make up the bigger picture.

My painting is driven by what really matters to me. My connection to the wild environment runs deeper than mere exploration of light and colour. The more I observe, the more I feel bound by its processes. My work grows from emotional responses to nature and an increasing awareness of its fragility.
