Neil MacPherson RSA RGI RSW

I live and work in the Far north of Scotland.  I prefer to paint in the daylight which makes the seasons very important in my work. Summer brings 15 hours of working light, a slower pace of painting reflecting the long days, whereas winter with 5 hours of cold light brings short intense days of work.

The mix of ideas comes from reading, history, Gaelic song/verse, Norse legends, myths of the north, marks on the land of forgotten lives, love, loss, walking, looking, changing colours of the landscape.

In the paintings I am creating things that could have been and should have been.
