Lynn McGregor RSW
Lynn McGregor was born in Pittenweem, Fife and currently lives in Argyll with her husband Michael Faulkner, a writer and editor. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected RSW in 2001. Her paintings are acrylic on board and are inspired by her immediate surroundings. Water is prominent in much of her work– before returning to her native Scotland she spent twelve years on Islandmore, an otherwise uninhabited island on Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland, and her present studio overlooks the beautiful Loch Awe, in Argyll. She paints directly from nature, without sketches or photographs, hoping to capture an immediacy in her work and therefore a sense of atmosphere and place, and to evoke in the viewer something of her own emotional response to a particular landscape.
