The iconic and spiritual aspects of indigenous cultures – specifically those of the Americas and Africa – provide considerable fodder for my works: the relationship between man and beast being to the forefront of this interest. In many respects these ancient and contemporary societies regard the difference between man and beast as infinitesimal, maintaining that one needs the other in order to preserve identity and reinforce the natural order of things. This belief, in turn, is in tandem with my own conviction that the preservation of every species is of paramount importance to the future of the planet – particularly in a world perverted by avarice and lust for profit of the few.
