My curiosity for the beauty and diversity of commonplace organic forms found in the wild flora of designated areas where eco systems are being restored relates in some sense to the contemporary concern for the natural environment.

More crucially, it serves my passion for colour, light and for resolving issues related to the communication of the visually complex, relying on knowledge, intuition, and tenacity to record these moments in time. The emerging narrative of detail, accuracy and technical virtuosity inform my internal conversations between the control of the medium and the complete freedom that watercolour application allows.

The acknowledged boundaries of scientific botanical plant representation are of little interest to me, compared to my unwavering observation of their colour, individual characteristics and architecture. My purpose: to offer an insight into the very essence of the land, highlighting the complexity of the ordinary, and the beauty that exists when an unappreciated plant is elevated in scale, less than perfect or viewed from an unusual angle.
