Duncan Lamont DA RSW
I graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee in 1975 with a Diploma in Art in Graphic Design with typography, and entered into a career as a graphic designer and illustrator. In 1983 I completed a one-year teaching course in art and design at Jordanhill College and thereafter commenced a role as a lecturer in graphic design, and ultimately, Senior Lecturer, at Cardonald College, Glasgow.
Having completed my involvement in further education in 2010, I continued my teaching career as a supply teacher and have taught art and design in schools in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
Now retired from my roles in education, I have found both the time and commitment to paint in gouache and watercolour. In terms of subject matter, I am particularly interested in old boats and decaying corrugated iron buildings found mainly around the west of Scotland. I find the texture and colours of these subjects fascinating and an enjoyable challenge to recreate them in my work.
