Oscar Goodall RSW

I use watercolour, oil and pastel and anything else which ‘works’. Fifty years of experiment, chaos and fashion ranging from abstract expressionism to posturings with ‘conceptual art’ has left painters in the epicentre of an explosion. My work reflects this constant change and moves from abstraction to landscape and back again. I paint landscapes because of a need to share my reverence for what surrounds 90% of people – sky, water, land, the seasons and change. I do not live in New York, London or Berlin. I exist in an increasingly polluted green landscape which deserves to be recorded as are the skills required to do so. Those skills and techniques have like nature itself, to change, to fit the content and subject. To choose subjects which fit the skills merely leads to stylistic boredom and is dangerous.
