Artists Statement

I prefer my paintings to speak for themselves. Perhaps the places I paint will be familiar: Paris and Provence, the evocation of flavours, scents and textures. Simple pleasures. Dappled light falling on a table top; a wall or rooftop; and yet I am always striving for something more than mere deception.

Biography

Micheal Clark graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1983. His love of film led to him working for the BBC in Glasgow until 1989 when he moved to London to work as an art director and illustrator.

Since returning to Scotland in 1999 he has painted full time, with solo exhibitions throughout the UK. As an Artist Member, he has supported the RGI Council, Paisley Art Institute and The Scottish Artists' Benevolent Association.

He has exhibited regularly with the RSW, at the Annual Exhibition, in Edinburgh, Perth and Forfar. He was awarded The Winsor and Newton Award at the 2010 RSW Annual Exhibition.
