Artists Statement

Do not like to spend time analysing, prefer just to get on with painting.

Biography

Straight from school (teacher William Armour) to the post war Glasgow School of Art of mature ex-service students, a time of exciting exhibitions in Glasgow, Picasso, Matisse and Van Gogh and in Edinburgh Ann Redpath, Gillies, Joan Eardley, Margot Sandeman, Sinclair Thompson, Florence Jamieson.Then down to earth teaching, marriage to Bill Birnie, life on a Balfron farm then Kilbarchan, children to bring up, always encouragement from Bill to paint and exhibit.
This year (2008) have exhibited in the RSW, the RGI and PAI also Tolquhon, Aberdeenshire "Art off the Square" Kilbarchan & also West Dumbartonshire Open Art Show in Clydebank Museum, yet to take place in late November.
