Artists Statement

Typically of Scots painters, my imagery has always owed much to the media and materials used. Inspiration usually comes from discovery of a new medium, tool or technique rather than from ideas or themes. Work is mainly in acrylics and watercolour with the occasional work in oils. It was long after Art College that I evolved a philosophy of art which was to nurture and sustain any modus operandi. My most fundamental understanding came from observing the development of imagery in children from infancy to puberty. I play a bum traditional fiddle to correct the neurosis of painting.
