Artists Statement

I live in Arbroath and work in watercolour. I find my subject matter in and around the harbour at Arbroath and at the foreshore, in the paraphernalia of fishing, boat building and repair and in the textures of woodgrain, concrete and metal, bleached and weathered by the sea.

Born in Dundee and educated at Arbroath High School, followed by study at Dundee College of Art under Alberto Morrocco and Hugh Adam Crawford from 1952-1957.
Travelling Scholarship to Italy and Spain 1958. Taught in schools in Glasgow and Brechin from 1959-1966, after which became a lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee until 1999.
