Artists Statement

I see my work as memorials to the past. They are about war, family wounds that never heal, the heart’s torn face and angels of death waiting and watching. These intangible things are often held together using the village of Footdee and the sea where I live as the backcloth and by the artefacts that continue to endure, causing painful reflection and recollection. At present I still prefer to work largescale, mainly 7’ x 8’ or larger, in oilpaint on board. I work on paper to generate ideas for planning and designs.
